Norwegian Humanitarian Enterprise was established in February 1996 with the objective of meeting and responding to the needs of individuals and local communities in co-operation with local and national authorities through a program that would respect the Azerbaijani cultural and religious traditions.
Throughout over 40 completed or on-going humanitarian projects, representing a total financial input of approximately seven million US dollars, Norwegian Humanitarian Enterprise has sought to meet the needs of individuals and communities, as well as public and private institutions throughout Azerbaijan.
Norwegian Humanitarian Enterprise’s four Programs, The Children and Youth Program, the Culture Program, The Agriculture Program, and The Human Resources Development Program, employ approximately 40 nationals and about 10 expatriates representing Norway, Finland, Canada and USA. Since 1996, more than 70 long-term Norwegian aid workers have been employed through Norwegian Humanitarian Enterprise, with an additional 450 short-term project related workers and management personnel, as well as countless representatives of donors.
