Norwegian Humanitarian Enterprise (NHE) has for several years run a fish farming project in North Western Azerbaijan. 28 fish farms are currently benefiting from NHE’s knowhow on fish farming.

In 6 regions in north-western Azerbaijan, fish farmers are working with NHE to develop their fish farming techniques. This project started in 2003 with just 4 fish farmers. Today it is a large project benefiting 28 fish farms producing trout and carp fish. The project aims to improve environmental protection practices in the fish farming industry, facilitate cooperation among the farmers, and help the fish farmers to make optimal use of their resources. The external evaluation conducted by independent experts last year praised the project for meeting the project goals and contributing to cooperation among farmers and supporting sustainable fish farming in Azerbaijan.
