The true value of friendship
A few weeks ago the international director of NHE’s Norwegian founder visited Azerbaijan. For her this was the first time, and she was treated to a high-speed round trip and given a glimpse and a cross-section of the work NHE is involved in. The international director took many impressions and some good, new friendships back with her as she returned to Norway after her week in Azerbaijan.
Truly, a visit of just a few days does not allow one to get much more than a glimpse! For a relatively small organization, NHE is involved in a large span of activities through its many and projects and grant schemes, involving a wide variety of diverse fields of operation: Support of maybe the most vulnerable group of people in society, children and youth. Preservation of important cultural traditions and handicrafts, and support to some of the many who find their livelihood from them. Training and support of agriculturalists in areas such as greenhouse production, farming of fish in little ponds, crop production and improvement, artificial insemination of cattle livestock and honey producing bee farming. Community development support in remote villages using vocational training and local artisans. Training of small entrepreneurs in business and accounting principles.
The list could go on and on. It makes me proud and happy to think of all the thousands of ordinary children, men and women who through support from NHE have been helped in extraordinary ways through the more than 15 years NHE has yielded humanitarian aid and developmental support in Azerbaijan!
