The Children and Youth Program strives to help stimulate the dignity and self-awareness of vulnerable youth and act as “advocates” for those in need of protection and support.
The Program works to help de-institutionalize Azerbaijani children and assist those already institutionalized in youth treatment centers in returning to their families, communities, and society. Since 2000, the Children and Youth Program has been arranging educational activities, providing assistance and holding various events for children and staff of Shagan Orphanage No. 3 located in Mardakan District outside of Baku. The project team visits the orphanage three times a week providing them with funds, equipment, food, and other need supplies. The Program also includes work in other regions of Azerbaijan.
Working with the British NGO, Central Asian Research and Development (CARD), and local NGO Yaddash, the program has also been successful in helping over one hundred youth from Ganja and Sheki to develop skills such as English language, computer skills, carpentry, carpet weaving, painting, and cooking. They also work to assist students in their professional careers by offering resources and support.
