NHE’s Human Resources Development Program (HRDP) was established in August of 2006, and has since conducted a number of leadership, planning, and accountancy trainings while successfully implementing several community development activities, including the development of over 20 community groups which work towards community resource and need identification. More than 200 youth have also been provided with vocational training, and in addition, HRDP has offered grants to over 30 individuals in the interest of promoting and supporting higher education and further training in general.
In 2007 NHE, in cooperation with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the International Labor Organization (ILO), established the IRIS Training Center. The IRIS Training Center is active in over 20 regions of Azerbaijan, and, to date, has educated upwards of 23 business trainers and 11 accountancy trainers. The Training Center has also facilitated the “Start and Improve your Business” and “International Accountancy Principles” training programs, offering trainings to approximately 3,000 owners of small enterprises.
HRDP’s most recent project,The New Life with Dignity project, was started in June 2010, and works to offer
families and individuals in need of assistance with vocational
training, entrepreneurship, developing locally small scale
processing and production possibilities. The project covers a total of 34 villages and is funded by the Finnish government through “Finnida” and NHE’s Finnish partner FLOM. The pilot project preceding this project was implemented over 21 months and assisted more than forty families, receiving help with home restoration, acquiring livestock, medical aid, and small loans.
